Procedures & Surgeries

In-Office Procedures

Women’s Clinic physicians perform many in-office procedures to diagnose and treat medical conditions for women. By performing these procedures in the office, patients benefit by receiving care from a staff they already trust at one convenient location. Patients also avoid the expense of hospital admissions or the risk of anesthesia.

Office Procedures include:

Colposcopy

Cryo-Surgery
Cryosurgery is a procedure that uses freezing gas (liquid nitrogen) to destroy precancerous cells on the cervix. When unhealthy cells are destroyed, the body can replace them with new, healthy cells. Cryosurgery, sometimes referred to as “cryo” or “cryotherapy,” is also used to treat some sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) like genital warts.
Cystometrogram, Cystoscopy & Urethroscopy
Cystometrogram, Cystoscopy and Urethroscopy are in office procedures used to diagnose causes of urinary incontinence and help to decide an appropriate treatment plan for bladder problems. A small plastic tube is gently inserted into the urethra. This tube will have a special lubricant on it to help numb the urethra, making the procedure more comfortable. The tube is then connected to a scope in order for the provider to look into the urethra and bladder. Your bladder is then filled with gas to help it expand, making it easier to see any abnormalities in the structure and allowing us to measure the pressure in the bladder. Through these series of tests we are able to see how much your bladder can hold, how much you can hold before you feel you need to urinate, and if the bladder muscles are working appropriately. We will also see if you are retaining any urine in your bladder after you have gone to the bathroom.
